Drone Photography & Video in Wellington & the Wairarapa

Some things are best seen from above: the layout of a site, the scale of a project, the setting of a property or the sweep of a venue. Aerial photos and video show what ground-level images can’t, and they help you sell, document and promote.

I’m David, a Wellington-based drone photographer and videographer, and I fly across Wellington, the Hutt Valley, Porirua, Upper Hutt and the Wairarapa. I deliver sharp, well-framed aerial stills and smooth video, shot safely and in line with the rules for where and how I fly.

Drone Services

  • Construction and project progress: Regular aerial updates that show a site’s progress for clients, councils and stakeholders. I can return on a schedule for consistent before-and-after views.

  • Property and real estate: Aerial views of homes, lifestyle blocks, farms and commercial buildings that show the size, setting and surroundings.

  • Commercial and business: Aerial images of your premises, yard, fleet or operations for websites, brochures and tenders. See also Commercial Photography.

  • Events and venues: Overhead coverage of weddings, festivals, sports days and corporate events, where permitted.

  • Marine and waterfront: Barges, wharves, boat sheds and coastal sites.

  • Video and cinematic footage: Smooth aerial video for promotional films, social media and project showcases.

Safe, compliant flying

I fly in line with New Zealand’s Civil Aviation rules and check airspace, landowner permission and site conditions before every job. Part 101 CAA Certified, public liability insurance, site safety induction experience and experience flying in Wellington’s controlled airspace.

How a drone shoot works

  1. Enquiry: Tell me what you need photographed or filmed, where, and what the images are for.

  2. Planning and checks: I’ll confirm the location, check airspace and permissions, and agree the shots, timing and any safety requirements with you.

  3. The flight: I’ll plan around weather, wind and light, since some jobs look best at sunrise or sunset. If conditions aren’t safe, we’ll rebook at no charge.

  4. Delivery: You’ll receive edited, web-ready photos and video in a private online gallery.

  5. Licensing: Images and footage are licensed for full commercial usage.

Where I fly

I fly throughout Wellington and the Wairarapa and travel further for larger projects. I can often combine drone coverage with ground photography on the same visit.

Drone pricing

Aerial jobs vary, so I quote each one based on location, length of flight, deliverables and any editing. Tell me what you need and I’ll send a clear price.
